Final Outcome Development | Prints
Because I was really happy with my printed 'Dutch Edam' sample inspired by the signage found at the different stalls of the market, I really wanted to create a few more of these and use them as a big factor in my final shopping bag outcome.
Just like before, I drew out stencils with the words I wanted to print out, and applied this to my base fabric using procion dyes and a silk screen. I created another red 'Dutch Edam' sample as I was so happy with the first one, and decided to use the other two primary colours blue and yellow to create two more prints in exactly the same way.
I plan on hand embroidering these in a similar way to my first sample, and because they are so striking and I am so pleased with how well they work with my theme in mind, I want to make these the main basis of my final outcome.
My initial thinking is I'd love to create a bag with a large print either side, surrounded by embroidery and other embellishing techniques I've been practising over the last few weeks. At first I wanted to make my bag entirely from printed fabrics similar to the 'Dutch Edam' sample but I thought it would be too overwhelming and this way I can create an almost collage like homage to the markets with a lot of different aspects to look at.
