Visual Communication | Fashion - Celebrity Collaborations
We live in a world obsessed with celebrities and they influence fashion trends and our shopping habits now more than ever.
Brands are fighting for collaborations with the latest it-girl or boy in hopes they will help sell out their products and we as a society drink it up and completely buy into it regardless of whether the particular product fits our style or budget.

Probably the biggest example of this at the minute are the Kardashians. Anything they endorse or collaborate on sells out almost instantly, with the public desperate to buy into a bit of the action and feel like by buying something with the Kardashian name on it, they will be that bit closer to them.
Recently, Kourtney Kardashian did a party wear collaboration with Pretty Little Thing, and it was instantly popular - but would it have been as popular without the name attached? The clothes are alright, but with prices starting at as little as £12, they're probably not the best quality, and with most of them being quite skimpy, they probably don't suit everyone either. But because Kourtney has her name splashed all over it, it doesn't matter - everyone wants to feel like a Kardashian.
It's the same idea with most brands, especially ones that are very heavy on their branding. You can buy a plain white tshirt anywhere for around a fiver but add on a fancy designer name, it would instantly set you back £100+ for what is essentially that same white top just with a designer logo on the front.
